As another Earth Day comes to an end, we all can look back and reflect on all the irredeemable things we have already done to harm not only our respective countries but the entire world. In remarks made by President Trump Monday he praised our economic and job successes within the United States but made no mention of climate change in his remarks.

“Environmental protection and economic prosperity go hand in hand,

A strong market economy is essential to protecting our critical natural resources and fostering a legacy of conservation.” This statement is true, but the president gave no evidence of his government or administration moving forward on protecting or conserving anything.

The President has even vowed to pull out of the Paris climate accord as well as dismantle the previous administrations attempts to combat the Earth’s problems by slashing greenhouse gas emissions from power plants in half. President Trump has said on multiple occasions that America’s air and water qualities rank amongst the highest in the world.

“My administration is committed to being effective stewards of our environment while encouraging opportunities for American workers and their families.”

A report issued only a year ago by several Federal Agencies stated that climate change is one on the biggest threats facing the United States. Not only in an environmental sense but also in a massive economic sense. The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on the subject of climate change gave a warning that there is a 12-year limit before the world has a climate catastrophe on its hands.

Professor Andrew Dessler a climate scientist from the University of Texas A&M confirmed it with his statement. “The statement is really the antithesis of environmental protection. They are not mentioning the gravest existential crisis facing humanity.”

With all this information coming from some of the top most powerful agencies in the world like the United Nation, Environmental Protection Agency, CIA, and many others why is no one listening? And why is the most powerful man in the world ignoring experts from all over the world. Well I am listening, and I hope you are too.

There are simple things you can do right now to try and make a difference. Never litter especially on the beach plastic does devastating things to the oceans eco systems. Remember to recycle cans, bottles, boxes. Don’t litter or lay waste on this magnificent and beautiful planet of ours. Remember not to waste energy turn off lights when you leave a room and look for alternative sources of power like windmills and solar panels. And lastly lobby your local representatives for more action in combating climate change.

This problem isn’t going away, we all need to work together if we want our children, grandchildren, and their children to live in a world where they can actually play outside, breathe clear crisp air, and lastly enjoy this beautiful world that we all live in.
